Medical Leave and Family Laws

California laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), provide employees with rights to protected medical and family leave.

Legal Entitlements

Employees are entitled to up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave under various acts:

  • Pregnancy Disability Leave

  • California Family Rights Act (CFRA)

  • Parent Leave Act

  • Sick Leave (Paid)

  • Leave for Victims of Sexual or Domestic Violence

Conditions for Leave

Eligibility criteria include one year of employment and 1,250 hours worked in the previous year, with the employer having 50 or more employees within a 75-mile radius.
